local celeb

I did it! I had an email read by a celebrity today. It was by non-other than Tony Kornheiser! To many of you that name means nothing! To me it's everything. I used to listen to him while I would be driving to and from failed job interviews. He's always funny and has listeners from all over the place via the internet. He is a true genius in his craft. He works for the same radio station as the wonderful John Thompson (who's show I had called into a few months back and was called a meathead by my wife for telling her of this news). He works on Sportstalk 980 up in DC. At any rate, he was talking about how he had some guests come over last night and they were the best. They did everything! Cooked, cleaned, put away the food and left in a timely manner because Mr. Tony goes to bed early. He is used to people coming and wanting to see his house and not leave. He had spouted out some clever lines and then he came out with, "and take your fat wife with you!". That line literally made me spit my water all over my desk.

This is the email I sent:

Thanks for the early morning spit take! I literally spit my water all over my desk when you were talking about dinner guests. The “ and your fat wife” was an instant classic. I am hoping that I can borrow that line the next time my wife invites some of her friends over. Good luck with MNF! Hurry up and get fired so we can get you back.

He is going to be one of the next broadcasters of Monday Night Football (MNF). A job he detests because he hates flying and has a general distaste to anybody thats not him! To bad sucka! He is getting paid a grip of cash and already know's he's gonna hate the job! That is pure class.

Him doing the MNF thing stinks because in the next 2 weeks he will be off the air. He will still do his show on ESPN called Pardon The Interruption (PTI). Listening to his show is the only thing that keeps me going at this godforsaken dump of a job.

So I figured you, my handful of readers, can hear about yet another brush with fame I had with the great Sportstalk 980 crew. God know's my wife could care less, and I'm sure you don't either but you just read it anyway.

nuts

Jesus Christ! I'm going batty here at work. I have been doing a buttload of data entry and am probably going to have a seizure within a few hours. The process that I am doing now is taking 10X longer than I had anticipated. It takes me about 30 minutes to do 1 of what I am doing. I have 80 to do. I'm not even close to half way done.

I am hoping that eating all of this shit will pay off.

zip

Just dropping a line to say that nothing new is going on! It was kind of a chilly weekend so i just kind of hung out close to home. I did head up to REI and picked up my new jacket that I won't be able to wear until next fall. It's all good! I did see a few other gizmos that I will be acquiring during the year to outfit myself for the tour of myself trip.

I have a great idea for a story for the wonderful writers group that I am in as well. Since I have some of the members of that group that stop by here I will be keeping that to myself. It's all good. I am going to go walk my dogs and get ready to watch a Bob Dylan documentary.

whats that smell?

I have no idea what the hell I have been eating for the last 2 days but it has given gas something fierce. I don't mean burps either. I was farting all of yesterday afternoon and a bit this morning. I had a guy walk into my office yesterday and ask, "What died?". I blamed it on the bathroom that is 5 feet away. I usually never get anybody to come into my office so I felt free to break a bit of wind. Big mistake! I let fly again today and 30 seconds later my fucking boss comes waltzing in. I could see her nose wrinkle up a bit and then she claimed to forget what she had wanted to talk to me about. Yeah right!

Other than that work is good so far! I entered 310 beds into our wonderful inventroy and I am ready to hit up some more stuff in the next few days. I am willing to guess I will have about 7,500 items total to enter. According to the tech support guy it should take me about 450 hours to put that in....thats about 11 weeks of FULL-TIME inputting. Blow me! I will go insane. I need to bring some CD's to work tomorrow so I can really cook. Plus, I found a shortcut to make it easier.

Thats it for now!

Pretty sure

I am pretty sure that spring is here and will stay here. The weather seems to be on the upswing again and I'm sure that it will be the sign of things to come. I am happy about this since I hate being inside.

I went on another wonderful 4-mile hike with the boy yesterday. We had a later start than planned since I didn't set my clocks ahead. We made good time getting to the beach. When we arrived there were like 4 people there and they left so we had the place to ourselves for about an hour. Then more and more people had filtered down. We were fortunate enough to find 5 sharks teeth. However my son was more into throwing rocks into the water and running around barefoot.

Me being the dumbass that I am underestimated global warming and didn't bring sunscreen. The right side of my neck and forearms are slightly burnt. My sons mane of hair protected his face and neck but wasn't as lucky with his forearms.

My son has become my hiking partner. My wifes knee has been giving her problems for a while now. She hasn't been able to go hiking with me for a while. My son can walk these 4-miles all the way. He will complain a bit and want me to carry him but I don't. So he will be my little buddy to get me geared up for my hike this winter when I go into the bowels of Shenandoah solo.

As soon as I can figure it out I will post a map of the route I plan on taking. I want something big enough to last me 2 nights and 3 days. Or something that will give me an out if I wimp out. I am concerned with the amount of snow that may or may not be there. I know it's going to be cold but I will have the gear for that so I am not worried about that. I remember going cross country skiing in MN and surprised at how little clothes I had to wear. I am more or less worried about going to bed and waking ....or not waking up.
This is the jacket that I just bought so I should be good to go. The key is layers! I will keep anybody who gives a rats ass about my soon to be adventure. I am just planning on things now and am hoping to decide on a route in a few weeks. I am thinking that I will go on some of the trails that I have been on before so if the shit hits the fan I have an idea as to where I am. I am also trying to incorporate a shelter stay for a night to make life a little bit easier, even if it is for a night.

Well, I am off to work and do whatever it is I do here at work.
